Losing a pet is an intense grief. Don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise. In my work I see a lot of pets at the end of their life. They are often the most difficult sessions and they certainly aren't a favorite of mine. I won't pretend otherwise. I am not saying they are not important. I'm just saying I would really prefer to see them sooner. When they are vibrant and happy rather than confused, and on pain meds. I think that is something we all wish for but unfortunately illness can come on suddenly and we are left without choice. So if you have an older pet, don't wait. If you have a younger pet don't wait.
I don't think you can have to many pictures of your pet. Professional or candid phone images. I'm not just saying that as a business, I am saying it a pet lover, a cat mom and a dog mom. As I witness my Charlie's face getting whiter and Molly starting to wonder where the sound of my voice is coming from, I feel the need to capture more moments. Not just pictures of them on their own but of us together. Once they are gone the memories and the pictures are all you have left.
Here are a few silly images I took earlier this month of my dogs. They love peanut butter! These are what I call peanut butter tongue shots.
Enjoy, Jill
