Happy New Year!
2024 was certainly a year I won’t forget. It started with a big, relaxing bang and ended with a somewhat sad fizzle. As you might remember, I took half the year off. I enjoyed some solid decompression and spent time purging and organizing both my home and business—a truly freeing experience. I returned to the camera with fresh ideas and energy. But just as I was finding my flow and introducing new concepts, the universe threw me a curveball. I know many of you were also met with a similar situation. It was a year of loss.
To quote Mike Tyson, "Everyone has a plan until they are punched in the face." Losing Molly was my punch in the face. All plans were pushed to the back burner.
Now, three months later, things are a little easier. I’m looking forward to sharing some exciting new ideas with you. In the coming weeks, I’ll be announcing a monthly giveaway that I’m thrilled to launch. I’m also planning to reintroduce some “old-school” techniques into my product line. In a world where everything feels overly contrived and digitally manipulated, I find myself yearning for something more authentic—something handcrafted and truly one-of-a-kind. I’ll share more about this soon, but I can tell you now that it involves Polaroids and hand-painted canvas prints.
As an Edmonton and area pet photographer, I’ve always been passionate about creating timeless, heartfelt artwork for pet owners. This year, I’m excited to explore new ways to celebrate the love and bond between pets and their families. Whether it’s through creative studio sessions or outdoor adventures, I want every image to tell a meaningful story. You know what this means, my VIP (Very Important Pup) Mom sessions will be back this spring. Remember, once a VIP Mom always a VIP mom.
On a more personal note, I’ve been learning some graphic arts techniques. This project is more for me than for my business, and I’m not ready to reveal much just yet. It’s been a steep learning curve, and I need to quiet the imposter syndrome before I share it with the world.
Here’s to 2025—a year of creativity, growth, and inspiration. Stay tuned for all the exciting things to come from your favorite Greater Edmonton area dog photographer! And lets always remember those beautiful furry faces we said goodbye to in 2024.
These business "head-shots" are a couple of years old. They were taken by my good friend, Lynn of Lynn Street Photography. If you are looking for some people photography look her up. I will be forever grateful for these memories.
